The Victorinox world as we know it started in 1891 when Karl Elsener's company (along with other Swiss cutlers) took over the manufacturing of the 100mm Soldier's Knife from producers in Germany. The company introduced its iconic smaller Officer's and Sports Knife in 1897, and much later many other knife sizes.
Victorinox manufactured several older vintage 100mm models that are not listed below, although some can be viewed in the older catalogues here. Most of these models did not have individual names, but were known by their model numbers, and sometimes a series name.
The horticultural series are the last remaining models using this frame size, however in the past this series was available in several sizes.
In 2009 there was a beautiful replica of the original 1891 Soldier's Knife to celebrate the company's 125th Anniversary.
