The Patagonian Expedition Race® (PER) is an extreme, challenging, multi-discipline adventure race carried out in a non-stop expedition format through the wild nature of Southern Patagonia, in Chile, South America. It is one of the most difficult races in the world, travelling through some of the most inhospitable regions on Earth. It is also known as the The Last Wild Race.
Wenger obtained title sponsorship rights to the race in 2009 and was the official sponsor until 2011. During this time the race was known as the Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race, and the race logo was adapted to incorporate the Wenger logo (also see bottom left catalogue page). Swiss Army knives were issued to all contestants.
In 2010 Wenger issued the Patagonian Expedition Race Series consisting of three Swiss Army Knives: a 130mm Ranger 179; an 85mm S16 and a 65mm EvoGrip 81. Known as the WPER series. All models featured yellow, (the PER official colour) EvoGrip handles with non-slip rubber inserts that increase safety, performance and efficiency. The rubber panels were laser engraved with the race name and logo.
From 2012 Wenger relinquished the title sponsorship, and the race reverted to being known as the Patagonian Expedition Race. However, Wenger still released a new series of Patagonia Race models with updated engraving for the name and logo. This series was known as the PER series.
