Between 1989 and 2002 Victorinox produced a number of Special Edition 'Collections' featuring custom scales on Ambassadors and Classics.
This document from Victorinox, has details of these, and several other sets. These sets could be viewed as the forerunners to the annual Classic SD Limited Editions.

A set of five Classic models with special scales. The Edelweiss and Camouflage versions were available individually, the other three only in this set. The backs of the three unique models were a plain solid colour, matching the front scale colour.
There were also other sets of specially scaled Classics available around this time, such as sets of unusual colours.

This Collection featured the Victorinox 58mm Classic with the national flags of five countries neighbouring Switzerland.
