The LED MiniLight replaces the tweezers in the scales of some 58mm Swiss Army Knives.
Victorinox often labels models with an LED light option as 'Lite' models (e.g. Signature Lite), but the Midnite Manager and SwissMemory are also common models featuring this flashlight.
The light is activated by pressing and holding the shield/logo on the scales which acts as a momentary switch.
The original version used a 2mm red LED, later (200x) a white option, also using a 2mm LED became available.
In 2008, a new white light was introduced that uses a 3.5mm LED rated at 18,000 mcd . This new version is significantly brighter than the previous versions.
Also introduced in 2008, were clear translucent scales known as SilverTech. These scales only feature the later white LED.
The earlier red and white lights have been phased out.
The original red and white LEDs used a 3V CR1025 button cell battery.
The 2008 white LED uses a 1.55V 389E silver oxide battery.
When replacing the battery, the positive (+) size faces down, the negative side faces up towards the scales. The battery is generally good for two years with typical usage.
